A Message from Fr. David

We are incredibly grateful for the financial support we receive from our regular givers in order to maintain and extend the reach of our calling to promote the Kingdom of God in loving service to our neighbours, and to ensure that the church building remains open as an ark of holiness and peace in troubled times.

Now everyone is able to support this through online donations, and in person through our contactless giving facility in St John’s.

If you are able to support us financially that would be lovely. However, whatever you can or cannot do, please pray for us.
Fr. David Hill,   Rector

Legacies

Leaving a gift to St John's in your will.

At St John’s, we recognise that planning for the end of life may not seem to be a priority, when there are so many demands that living makes upon us. However there is much to be said for giving some thought to how those we love will manage our passing: how we would like our funeral arrangements to be handled, and how we would like to be remembered. You will have made plans for the disposal of your assets in your will, if you have already made one, and we would encourage you to consider a legacy to St John’s as an aspect of this, whilst recognising that the claims of loved ones will no doubt come first. We welcome all gifts in wills, however large or small and we promise to use your gift to make a difference to our parish. Our PCC Legacy Policy is to use gifts to help fund significant development projects, whether buildings, equipment or staff. Since needs change over the years, we encourage you to leave a gift in your will for the general purposes of the parish rather than for a restricted purpose. We will discuss possible uses of your gift with your executors when the time comes, bearing in mind your known areas of interest in the church (e.g. music, buildings, children and youth, overseas mission or aid) and the church’s priorities at the time. You can be confident that your gift will be used to make a real difference to our future mission and ministry. We acknowledge gifts in whatever way the donor and/or his/her executors feel most appropriate. Equally, we can make sure that gifts remain anonymous if the donor prefers. If you would like to talk to someone in confidence about the sorts of purposes your gift might fund, and how/if you would like your gift to be acknowledged, please contact our Rector, Fr David Hill, on 01424 423367, or speak to one of the Churchwardens. If you would like to make a gift to our church in memoriam, please come and discuss this with us too. It can be a wonderful and appropriate way to remember a loved one.
